Newly qualified GPs and International Medical Graduates (IMGs) can be assured of a warm welcome and receiving varied and exciting opportunities and support programmes in Gloucestershire.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

A local programme (Spark) has historically been available to all newly qualified GPs within 12 months of qualifying, offering mentoring, coaching, peer support, educational events and a chance for a CPD funded project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although national funding for this scheme recently ceased, NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (ICB) and the Primary Care Training Hub have been working hard to ensure that a similar scheme is made available to newly qualified GPs. We are pleased that our next Spark fellowship cohort started in September 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unique to the Gloucestershire Spark scheme, newly qualified GPs have the opportunity to undertake funded and supported projects in an area of their choosing. This has enabled many GPs to develop special interests, portfolio careers and further support their leadership development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The funded projects, in addition to mentoring from experienced local Gloucestershire GPs and facilitated peer support, means a wrap around scheme is in place to guide your transition as a newly qualified GP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Appraisals are an important opportunity for new GPs to review their year and look forward, to formulate their personal learning requirements. The Primary Care Training Hub offers lots of support and helpful information to ensure you get the best from this process in terms of both professional development and personal needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ICB and Primary Care Training Hub also offer specific peer support to GPs transitioning to working in the UK from overseas to guide you through immigration requirements, ensuring you have the correct permissions to work and that sponsorship licenses are put in place.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
