I grew up in the county and, after spending time working abroad in Australia and qualifying as a GP in London, I moved back to the area in 2021 with my young family. Gloucestershire is a wonderful place to raise children, offering excellent schools, family-friendly events like the annual Festivals, and breathtaking countryside right on the doorstep.

With a strong interest in public health, I am passionate about improving local population health outcomes, particularly through addressing inequalities. I’ve been fortunate to pursue a Health Inequalities Fellowship through Rosebank Health, the Primary Care Training Hub, and the ICB.

As a newly qualified GP in the area, the SPARK Fellowship has provided invaluable networking opportunities and mentorship, both of which I highly recommend to all newly qualified GPs.

As a Portfolio GP and a Clinical Lead for the Integrated Urgent Care Service at Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, I’m thrilled to share my journey in this exceptional county. Since joining the NHS here, I’ve experienced unwavering support for professional growth and development.

Gloucestershire’s commitment to healthcare excellence is evident in its robust training programmes and diverse career pathways. NHS Gloucestershire ICB has supported my pursuit of additional qualifications, including a PgDip in Diabetes and a Diploma in Urgent Medical Care, which have enhanced my ability to deliver high-quality patient care.

The collaborative atmosphere fosters innovation and continuous improvement. I’ve had the rewarding experience of mentoring GP trainees and leading impactful quality improvement initiatives. 

Beyond professional growth, Gloucestershire offers an excellent quality of life. The grammar schools have been fantastic for my children’s education and the area’s natural beauty provides a perfect backdrop for family life.

I qualified in October 2022 after completing my GP training in Gloucestershire.  

I have been very well supported by my practice and found the transition from trainee to fully qualified GP completely manageable.

Gloucestershire’s SPARK programme is available to newly qualified GPs and offers fantastic support including mentoring, coaching, peer support, educational events and a chance for a CPD funded project in an area of your choosing.

Being a GP is incredibly rewarding, I’m always learning something new and interesting and finding opportunities to bring about positive change for the future of GP services in the county. It’s great to have supportive colleagues around you and the Primary Care Training Hub here is also very active.
